David Rankin & Claire Seidl: Between Our Worlds
Claire Seidl is an abstract painter and photographer whose career spans over four decades. Raised in Connecticut, she earned her BFA from Syracuse University and her MFA in Painting from Hunter College, City University of New York and taught in the art department at Hunter College for a decade. Seidl went on to study photography at the International Center for Photography and then taught in the art department of Hofstra University for five years. She now lives and works in New York City and in Rangeley, Maine.
Seidl contemplates the often thin line between reality and abstracted memory through her painting and photography, meshing surface and space in refreshing and unique practices.
Each work is approached as a singular challenge, calling for resolution on its own terms.
Seidl exhibits nationally and internationally, has had 40 solo shows, and has participated in over 100 group shows.
David Rankin, a New York-based Australian artist, is celebrated for his expressive and vibrant abstract works. His paintings are characterized by their quick, loose brushstrokes and calligraphies.
Rankin's artistic journey began during his formative years when he developed a profound interest in art and poetry from China, Japan, and India. He also developed a deep interest in Aboriginal culture. Inspired by these influences, he aimed to merge Eastern art themes and styles with Western abstraction, resulting in a truly unique painting style.
Rankin has held over 100 solo exhibitions in cities across the world including China, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Ireland, Australia and the United States. His work is featured in prominent international museums and collections.
