"I am fascinated by how color shifts as it moves across a surface: table top and ocean top; how it accumulates to form atmosphere and complexion; all subject to the dazzling whims of natural light. It makes me itch to respond in paint. I think of my paintings as time suspended, as they are structured upon the changes- and the unity- of color that I observe in my surroundings, and in the painting itself.

I am in love with, and draw inspiration from, art work throughout the ages and around the world. I am drawn to work that feels as if the maker had to make it, and that awakens a similar need in my self."
