Biography
Lea Peterson minored in Studio Art at the University of Maryland and studied Painting at the Harvard Extension School in Boston.
Lea committed to a career as an artist and moved to Maine in 2007. She loves the drama of the coast and finds inspiration whenever she looks out at the ocean. In 2008, she partnered with four other artists to found the Old Post Office Gallery in Georgetown to support and promote the work of local artists. With another 8 artists, she did the same in Bath in 2012, founding an arts center called the Centre Street Arts Gallery.
Lea is a Juried Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America and the Pastel Society of America. Her work has appeared in juried exhibitions in Maine at the Boothbay Regional Arts Foundation, Saco Museum, Blue Marble Gallery, Harlow Gallery, Maine Art Gallery, Chocolate Church Gallery, River Tree Arts, and River Arts. In addition, she has had numerous solo shows at venues such as the National Audubon Society in Rockland and Falmouth, Miles Gallery in Damariscotta, and the Just Framing Gallery in Bath, among many others.
Lea Peterson lives in Georgetown, Maine painting primarily seascapes and landscapes that convey the many moods of New England.
