Last month a new book was released that will be of interest to art lovers and Portlanders alike. "Paintings of Portland" was released on June 1 and is full of art dedicated to the city of Portland and its surrounding areas such as the islands of Casco Bay.
Among the pages you will see Portland landmarks such as Portland Head Light and the Custom House as well as scenes from the harbor, landscapes and back bay. About a quarter of the books focuses on historical pieces....artists have long been inspired by our "city by the sea". The remaining portion of the book is dedicated to the work of contemporary artists like gallery artist and friend, Rush Brown.
At our Laura Waller opening back in June, Rush came in with a copy of the book and we were thrilled to see his work included among the pages.
Paintings of Portland can be purchased at local bookstores like our neighbors at "Book Review". Stop in to pick up your copy and then head into the gallery to see the work of Rush Brown for yourself. We are proud to have some of his paintings at the gallery for your enjoyment. We also have his available paintings on our website HERE. Congratulations Rush!
