Nadia Klionsky
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Nadia Klionsky began her classical art training at the prestigious Intermediate Art School which is affiliated with world-renowned St.Petersburg Academy of the Fine Arts. This training instilled in her an appreciation for traditional landscape painting. After immigrating to the United States at the age of thirteen, she continued to pursue this genre while studying at Cooper Union in New York from 1978 to 1979, and continuing in the following years in the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Philadelphia College of Art from which she graduated in 1982.
Ms. Klionsky’s exhibition record includes gallery and museum venues in the United States and abroad, among them early museum exhibitions in St. Petersburg, Russia, and “Outstanding Young Artists of New York City” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has been selected by a panel of distinguished international art critics, curators, scholars, and historians as one of a few artists representing the United States among 35 other countries for the 1999 Biennale Internationale Del’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy. Her work has appeared in several publications, such as Architectural Digest Magazine, and New American Paintings (Open Studio Press: MA, 1997), where her work was placed on the cover of the book. In 2008, Nadia Klionsky participated in the Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Realism at Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana. Presently, her work is being shown at the Noyes Museum of Art in New Jersey, in the exhibition, celebrating 120 years of the National Association of Women Artists, the oldest women’s organization, of which she is a member.
